about

Multi-award winning composer, bandleader, and innovative improviser, Graham Reynolds has signed to Fire and debuts with his unique re-imagining of the soundtrack to Alfred Hitchcock’s silent classic film “The Lodger”, a tale of murder and suspense set on the foggy streets of ripper-terrorised London. This is the latest in Fire’s “Imagined Score” series that has featured Death & Vanilla’s “The Tenant” and Jane Weaver’s take on “Feherlofia” with her new ensemble Fenella. Artwork for the series is provided by Ander Hansson from Death & Vanilla.

Graham recently scored long-time collaborator Richard Linklater’s “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” starring Cate Blanchet and Ballet Austin’s “Grimm Tales,” while continuing work on the Marfa Triptych which includes the bilingual opera Pancho Villa From a Safe Distance and Marfa: A Country & Western Big Band Suite. His multimedia collaboration with Kronos Quartet’s ex-cellist Jeffery Ziegler “The Sound of Science” has been touring internationally. Fire Soundtracks previously released his cult score to the Linklater’s “A Scanner Darkly,” declared “the best soundtrack of the decade” by Cinema Retro Magazine.

“Graham Reynolds works in extremes,” (Film Music Magazine), he is “the quintessential modern composer,” (London independent), who is “‘eerily evocative… rich and inventive,” (Variety), and “a rare talent” (Pop Matters).

'Police Station' is the preview track from this much anticipated release; a brooding piece of maniacal piano playing that underpins a gloriously evocative theme with a haunting and suggestive muse that stutters with tension.
